Fun with Instagram

I really love my iPhone.  I probably don't even know half of what it can actually do, but I love it for what I do know!  My latest discovery (although it's probably been around for a while) is Instagram, a photo editing app.  Do y'all have this yet?  Check it out:

Shocking that they're all pictures of my girl!  If you don't have it, download it now (it's free) and follow me, abnoel.  Have fun wasting time being creative!!!

Thank You, TLC

After I had to listen to Evie cry without her paci last night before she went to sleep, I have to admit I was waivering.  Nana had a hard time, too, at naptime.  What's so bad about a seemingly harmless pacifier?  Could it really be that terrible?  Then I was reminded of a little something.  Am I the only one who admits she watches Toddlers and Tiaras on TLC?  For once, my love of realtity TV has proven itself useful.

Just in case you can't see where I'm going with this, let me introduce you to Makenzie and Ni-Ni:

So, I have a new resolve now.  Nana, are you reading?  We can do it!!

Four Month Check Up

Evie had her four month check-up with Dr. Stone on Monday, and everything was great!  She is in the upper 90th percentile on all her growth stats.  She weighed in at 17 pounds 15.5 ounces (can't we just call that 18 pounds?!), she is 26 and 3/4 inches long, and her head circumference is a whopping 17 inches.  At her two month check up, the nurse measured her head (16 inches then), left the room and then came back with a different head-measuring device because she thought her first measurement couldn't be right since it was so big.  Nope, it was right the first time!!  Must be all those brains. :)

She had to get two shots, one in each leg.  She screamed bloody murder when the first one went in, and kept crying through the second, but she recovered very quickly and went right back to her happy and playful self.

BUT, we did get some bad news....  Dr. Stone said it's time to give up the paci at bedtime and naptime (which is really the only time she wants it anyway).  Evie wasn't always especially attached to a paci.  They weren't providing them in the hospital when she was born, and of course we didn't know to try one.  But once mommy and daddy realized its benefits, it made its way quite successfully into our bedtime routine.  We were also hoping it would help deter this:

Won't she love this picture in a few years?!  She does seem to be out of her thumb-sucking phase lately, and we're hoping it doesn't return.

So, I guess that's that.  Good-bye, Paci!  It's been fun!

Evelyn Elizabeth: Four Months in Review

To say that we're in love with our baby girl would be a drastic understatement.  The moment she came into our lives at 7:10 am on March 11, she changed everything.  And I mean everything.  I look back on the thirty-one years of my life without her and wonder what in the world I ever did with all that free time.  She consumes my every moment and fills my heart with a love I could never put into words.  Who knew that such a tiny person could make such a big impact!

Because of her, the past four months have been the most challenging and most rewarding of my life.  To see her smile melts my heart, and to hear her laugh fills it with joy.  I absolutely love being a mother and can't imagine a more important job or title than "Evie's mom."

And since I'm a little late starting this blog, let me catch you up to speed on our sweet little Evie.  Can you believe how much she has changed in four short months (18 weeks, to be exact)??!!

I've finally done it!

I have been wanting to start a blog for a while.  I love reading blogs and think they're a great way to record memories and events.  Needless to say, having our sweet baby Evie has been the biggest event in our history, so I decided it's finally time to start.  I figure she's what most of you want to see/read about anyway!

But since I everyone loves a good before and after, I also plan to throw in some house stuff.  Gavin and I are relentless DIY-ers, and while Evie has slowed us down a bit, we're not anywhere close to being done with the house.  To be honest, I'm really not sure we'll ever sit back and call the house "done," but it's a nice thought!

So, here goes my attempt to share our life- a perpetual work in progress!
